The Yonex Duora 8XP Badminton Racket is made for the advanced player, wanted to have excellent shot accuracy and power on the backhand like all the Duora range. This racket has been specifically build for players wanting higher than normal racket string tensions. It can be used all the way up to 35 lbs string tension.
We'd only suggest this racket for the player who plays with excellent accuracy in their play, and makes a low percentage of mishit shots, this is because the higher your string racket tension the smaller the sweet spot to hit it well, that said if hit well....the shot will be exceptional with this racket. It's a an even balanced racket meaning overall it suits best a speed playing style with an all round game.
NANOMETRIC* improves the bonding strength between the carbon fibres enabling us to take racquet shaft construction to another level. By reducing the amount of carbon in the shaft to make it 60%* thinner than a conventional racquet whilst retaining stiffness, YONEX has created a revolutionary lightweight racquet with lightening head speed and control.
*NANOMETRIC is the new material which applies the NANOALLOYTM Technology of Toray Industries, Inc.
*approximate measurement when compared to a conventional racquet shaft, tested by YONEX

NANOMETRIC DR is a new carbon
material developed by Yonex based on our unique NANOSCIENCE technology. Created from a material originally developed for next generation space aviation by Toray Industries, Inc., this marks the first time it has been used within the racquet industry. By combining firm shuttle hold and high repulsion, NANOMETRIC DR puts the DUORA into a class of its own.
The ISOMETRIC™ equalizes the length of the main and cross strings in the string-bed, enlarging the sweet spot for more consistent accuracy even on off-centre hits.
The single-pass grommet hole construction provides more grommet holes for a more high-performance stringing pattern.
The built-in solid feel core cuts harmful miscellaneous vibration at impact. Solid feel core is carried in all racquets manufactured in Japan.
Combines solid hitting feel and quick swing.
‘NEW’ Built-in T-Joint is manufactured from a special lightweight plastic combined with epoxy resin and foaming agent that enhances quality and performance by increasing the stability of the shuttle on the string bed and through the air.
The slimmest racquet ever produced by YONEX vastly reduces air resistance whilst providing maximum feel.
The control support cap provides an 88% wider flat surface compared with an ordinary racquet for easier gripping, fast follow-through and the sharpest maneuverability.
VIBSLAYER CARBON is a material incorporated into the bottom-half of the frame. Made with ultra-thin layers of shock-absorbing material* between layers of carbon, players experience the same level of repulsion power generated by normal carbon with greatly reduced shock impact, cutting down on fatigue and stress on the body.
Tested by Yonex.
*VIBSLAYER CARBON utilizes shock absorbing materials developed by Toray Industries, Inc.

Buying Guide
Badminton Rackets Buying Guide
The key question to ask firstly is what style of player are you, or what type of player do you want to become?
- Power Attacking
- All ound
- Fast Reactions to Rallies
- Control and Touch, by moving players around the court to create space
As a general guide for your playing style below is the kind of racket you'll want to look at purchasing:
Playing Style |
Racket Balance |
Racket Flexibility |
Racket Weight |
Power Attacking |
Head Heavy |
Stiff |
85g – 89g (3U) |
All Round |
Balanced |
Medium |
80g – 84g (4U) |
Speed & Fast Reactions |
Head Light |
Medium |
79g or below (5U and up) |
Control & Touch |
Head Light |
Hi Flex |
79g or below (5U and up) |
In simple terms is means this:
Player with Explosive Backswing Hitting = Stiffer Shaft needed as it'll unload faster for more power
Player with Slower Backswing Hitting = More Flexible Shaft needed so that it'll unload fully at impact
If you're still unsure what to choose for yourself, we'd recommend going for a medium flex badminton racket to minimise the chances of choosing incorrectly what's right for you.
Weight:
Weight can make a real difference to reaction speeds, and power behind the hit of a shuttle. Too light a racket and it won't go far or powerful enough. However too heavy a racket and you'll find you'll be reacting too slow in fast flat rallies, where reaction speed is everything.
Most rackets are weighted around 3U (85-89g) or 4U (80-84g), this is because it's a good weight balance for players to hit hard and also be able to react fast too.
Typically singles players will use heavier rackets 3U (85-89g), this provides the player with more stability and accuracy, with a little more weight for power behind it, without compromising on racket speed too much, as quick racket head speed isn't needed as much in the singles game.
Doubles players however will usually want lighter rackets, the most popular weight for this being 4U (80-84g), this is because the Badminton Racket will offer more speed and quicker reactions in around the net and for defence against smashes.
Racket Strings Used & Tension
Again like the grip, this is customisable on any racket. However do look out for racket tension ranges on the product as this could potentially limit your ability to have the racket strung at a desired tension.
For a full breakdown on strings and tensions, see our buying guide specifically on this.
To put it simply however, if you're unsure what to choose when buying a racket you like, either go for the “Original Strings” option or “Stringers Professional Decision” for which we'll choose the string that best suits getting the maximum performance out of the racket for you.
